Ikigai – 生き甲斐

In this heartfelt poem, «My Reason for Being,» the concept of Ikigai—finding one’s purpose in life—is explored through four essential parts: Passion, Mission, Vocation, and Profession. The poem delves into personal passions such as art, music, and love, showcasing the importance of creativity and joy. It reflects on the skills and talents that contribute to making others happy and emphasizes the significance of teaching, sharing, and uplifting society. The poem also addresses the need for financial compensation for one’s contributions while acknowledging the challenges and farewells encountered along the journey. Ultimately, it captures the essence of living with purpose, conquering fears, and the desire for enduring love and companionship in the pursuit of true happiness.

“MY REASON FOR BEING”

Part 1: Passion

In the dance of life, I seek my truth,

Ikigai whispers through the gentle breeze.

A balance found in passions and dreams,

Where happiness is molded, unique to me.

What fuels my heart, ignites my soul?

Art, music, and you, the trinity whole.

With every brushstroke, every note sung,

I find my essence, my journey begun.

But your stroke and indeed,

That was all gone.

Clear choices you gave,

Good-bye. Ikigai was concluded.

Part 2: Mission

What skills do I wield with a deft hand?

Creativity flows, ideas grand.

In making you smile, in joy’s pure glow,

My purpose shines, my spirit aglow.

My mission stays

Over a true vision to be claimed.

Fight today for peace to be achieved.

Struggle first, peace comes next.

Part 3: Vocation

What can I give to the world so wide?

Teaching and sharing, standing by your side.

Offering thoughts, my mind’s bright flame,

To better lives, to uplift, to reclaim.

True self…

Dreamed yesterday and today.

You were on your path

Out of my cornered heart.

Part 4: Profession

Why should my efforts reap reward’s gleam?

For ideas shared, for nurturing dreams.

In every creation, in every bright spark,

A piece of my heart, a lasting mark.

What matters if success can be shared?

Illusions were made,

Destiny was clear,

Good-bye, my dear.

In **Ikigai**, I find my way,

A reason to rise, to greet each day.

With passion, skill, and purpose clear,

I live my truth, I conquer fear.

So if you love my Ikigai…

If you come back…

It has to be to stay,

Fighting along the way.

Le End.
